The Power of Thinking Big—Especially When It Feels Hardest

This week inside the Rising Tide Connection, we had one of the most meaningful conversations yet.
If you’re not familiar, the Rising Tide Connection is a group of experienced entrepreneurs committed to being their best—not just in business, but in mindset, growth, and impact.

What unfolded during our most recent mastermind was a powerful and deeply honest conversation about choosing to think big—even when playing small feels safer.

At a time when the media is shouting about economic uncertainty and playing defense, this was a refreshing and necessary reset. Because leadership means moving forward anyway.
Here are some of the biggest takeaways from our session:

🔹 1. The Law of Attraction Works Both Ways
As I said on the call, “Everyone is an expert in the Law of Attraction.” Because most of us have experienced thinking things wouldn’t work out… and then acting like they won’t… and then watching them not work out—proving ourselves “right.” That’s not fate. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy. But it works the other way too.

🔹 2. Fear Sells—But You Don’t Have to Buy
Whether the economy is actually in crisis or not, fear is contagious. The truth? You don’t have to participate. As entrepreneurs, leaders, and creators, we get to choose where our attention goes—and where attention goes, energy flows.

🔹 3. Growth Is Still Happening—Even NowDespite all the noise about downturns and uncertainty, many entrepreneurs are seeing real progress. From booking more discovery calls to launching new programs and seeing higher engagement—momentum is possible right now. When you have a system that works, and you keep moving forward, growth is inevitable.

🔹 4. Obstacles Are the Path, Not the Problem
Fred Ford reminded us of the Law of Rhythm: life flows in cycles—ups and downs, night and day, ebb and flow. If you’re in a “down,” that’s just part of the rhythm. Keep planting seeds. Stay in motion.
Rob Commodari echoed Ryan Holiday: “The obstacle is the way.” The bigger the challenge, the bigger the potential transformation. We don’t grow in comfort. We grow through resistance.

🔹 5. You Can Be Grateful During the Challenge
This one hit home. Rob shared that he’s learning not just to find gratitude after the storm—but in it. That takes courage. But finding a reason to be thankful in the moment completely shifts your perspective.

🔹 6. Optimism Is Strength, Not Naïveté
We often think cynicism is intelligence. But research—and experience—says otherwise. Optimists set bolder goals. They stretch further. And more often than not, they outperform.
As Kimberly Quinn said so beautifully:
“The brain goes where we lead it—and with what we feed it.”
Choose wisely.

🔹 7. Leadership = Vision + Response
We can’t always control events. But we can always control our response. And the most effective leaders see things not worse than they are—but exactly as they are—and then envision something greater. That’s where transformation begins.

Whether you’re a coach, a consultant, a business owner, or simply someone chasing a dream—you are allowed to still dream. You are allowed to grow. You are allowed to think big.

The rising tide is coming. And those who are preparing now—mentally, emotionally, strategically—will be the ones ready to ride the wave.

🌊 Keep going.
🚀 Keep growing.
🎯 Keep thinking big.

What’s one area where you’re choosing to think bigger despite uncertainty?
